  An issue of the Avengers Appreciation Society Newsletter has been added.

• June 15, 2023

  The photo galleries have been restored after the hosting service for them was shut down. In addition to rebuilding the galleries, more than two dozen new photos, mostly taken in France during the series' filming and for publicity, have been added, along with the caption information recorded on the backs of the stills.

• May 21, 2019

  Some exciting New Avengers news comes from Network, which has announced a brand new, Blu-ray release of the Cybernauts trilogy, featuring remastered versions of Avengers episodes The Cybernauts and Return of the Cybernauts, and New Avengers episode The Last of the Cybernauts...?. This is a significant release for New Avengers fans, as the series, unlike its predecessor, has yet to be released in remastered form due to an inability to source the original masters. Whether Network has, in fact, sourced the original masters or some other material for The Last of the Cybernauts...? or any/all other episodes of The New Avengers is unknown, as are the chances of a complete New Avengers Blu-ray release in the future. Regardless, this release will mark the first time an episode of The New Avengers has been released in remastered form, which should give all New Avengers fans cause to celebrate. Pre-ordering has already begun for an August 5, 2019 release. Visit Network for more information about the release and how to pre-order.

  It was brought to my attention that some of the links in certain sections of the Archive, including the Comics, Scripts, and Music were not working. These have now been fixed. If you come across any other broken links on the site, please get in touch.

  Mike Richardson, author of the fantastically comprehensive Avengers compendium Bowler Hats and Kinky Boots, has kindly offered some personal insights from meeting the late Gareth Hunt.

• May 11, 2017

  Just in time for the 40th anniversary of The New Avengers in Canada, some press releases announcing the series' relocation to Toronto. These include an announcement of Nielsen-Ferns' involvement in the production, a brief summary of the original series' history and introduction to The New Avengers, and individual releases regarding the plots, cast, and crew of all four Canadian episodes.

  There are also two new additions to Gareth's page: an interview, Gareth Hunt: A Very Private Guy!, and a Selfridge's advertisement featuring Gareth as model.

• January 4, 2017

  The Episode Photos image gallery has been split in two to accommodate new additions. Gallery 1 now includes a photo of Gareth Hunt and Gabrielle Drake from the episode Dead Men are Dangerous. The original press caption from the back of the photo has also been added. In addition, the Gareth Hunt Gallery also contains one new publicity image from 1976.

  Elsewhere, Denis of Steedumbrella has kindly provided a number of translations of foreign language articles. They include a Dutch piece on Gareth Hunt, another for Joanna, Patrick articles from before and during the filming of the series. There are also translations by Philippa for pieces on the cast's love lives and the series' production.

  Finally, I've added a brief precis on the Avengers on film series of books, which includes two volumes examining The New Avengers.

  Several new press clippings added, mostly non-English, including assorted Joanna clippings, an article on Gareth, pieces on Patrick both before and during The New Avengers, and an American piece preceding the series' screening in the US.

  The Joanna Lumley image gallery has been split in two to accommodate new additions. Gallery 1 now includes a previously unseen photo of Joanna modelling the orange kimono which featured in publicity photos and the episode To Catch a Rat. The original press caption from the back of the photo has also been added.

• March 26, 2016

  First off, the hard-working Denis of Steedumbrella has found the previously unseen covers of the South African New Avengers novelisations. He has also uncovered evidence of a possible South African release of Steed and Gambit dolls (in addition to the familiar Purdey doll released in Britain). These are both amazing finds, the product of Denis' spectacularly hard work, and go no small way to demonstrating just how popular the series was in South Africa. Thank you to Denis for sharing these finds!

  In other news, the Fiction by Others section of the site has been reinstated after the redesign, complete with two fresh stories by new writer C. Kay.

  Today marks what would have been Patrick Macnee's 94th birthday, and a new Avengers volume has been released to celebrate the man behind John Steed. Co-ordinated and edited by Alan Hayes of The Avengers Declassified, Avengerworld: The Avengers in Our Lives contains a foreword from Avengers expert Dave Rogers and a multitude of essays from fans around the world describing the impact this extraordinary series has had on their lives.
