• What is The New Avengers?

  The New Avengers is the "sequel" to the sixties cult classic British television show The Avengers, which ran from 1961-1969. The Avengers starred Patrick Macnee as the bowler-hatted secret agent John Steed, who foiled devious plots with the assistance of a sucession of mostly-female partners, the most famous of which was Diana Rigg as Mrs. Emma Peel. The New Avengers was a revival of the show, and marked the return of Macnee, who was joined by two younger colleagues: Gareth Hunt as Mike Gambit, and Joanna Lumley as Purdey. The sequel series ran from 1976-1977, for a total of 26 episodes.

• Why does the site only cover The New Avengers?

  Because it's been the focus of my interest in the series for the past few years. Also because there are very few sites that exclusively focus on The New Avengers. There are many excellent Avengers sites out there that include sections on The New Avengers, but generally the original series is already very well-documented, while The New Avengers is less so. So this site aims to be a repository for information on the series that generally isn't available elsewhere.

• Why is the site called "Anew"?

  For a few reasons. Because The New Avengers was a revival of the original series. Also, the first book which dealt with the series in any great detail was called The Avengers Anew. Plus the title card provides the right letters for a site banner, so that's handy!

• I have a New Avengers-related article/photo/piece of fiction/nugget of information/etc. that I don't see anywhere on the site. Can I submit it to be added to the site?

• Where do you get the content in the archive?

  Most of it is from my own private collection, but some of it has been shared with me by other fans.

• I'm looking for a specific article/photo/etc. Do you have it?

  The majority of what I have is up on the site. Contact me if you're looking for something in particular and don't see it here.

• Who's behind the site?

  I'm a Canadian Anglophile who's been a fan of The New Avengers since 2001, and of the original series even longer. I love all eras of the series, but am particularly fond of the Emma Peel and New Avengers seasons.
